Airport to City Transport

From Dulles (IAD) to Downtown DC:

  • Silver Line Metro: The most economical option. Take the Silver Line from IAD to downtown DC stations. Travel time approximately 50-60 minutes.

  • Washington Flyer Silver Line Express Bus: Connects the airport to Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. From there, take the Silver Line into DC.

  • Taxi/Rideshare: Convenient but more expensive, costing approximately £45-60. Travel time 35-60 minutes depending on traffic.

  • Shared shuttle services: Pre-bookable and more economical than taxis.

From BWI to Downtown DC:

  • MARC Train: Affordable service from BWI Rail Station to Union Station in DC. Requires a free shuttle from the airport to the BWI Rail Station.

  • Amtrak: More expensive but faster than MARC, running from BWI Rail Station to Union Station.

  • Metro Bus B30: Connects BWI to the Greenbelt Metro Station (Green Line).

  • Taxi/Rideshare: Most expensive option at approximately £60-80, with travel time of 45-75 minutes.

From Reagan National (DCA) to Downtown DC:

  • Metro: The most convenient option. Yellow and Blue lines connect directly from the airport to downtown stations. Travel time 15-25 minutes.

  • Taxi/Rideshare: Short trip of about 15-20 minutes to downtown, costing approximately £15-25.

  • Walking: Possible to some Crystal City hotels that are within walking distance.

Where to Stay

Book accommodation well in advance during the NFL season. Consider these areas:

  • Navy Yard: Growing entertainment district with good Metro access

  • Capitol Hill: Historic area close to attractions with Metro connections

  • Downtown: Central location with excellent public transport links
